A Derby taxi driver has been banned from placing an advert on his cab supporting the Derby Evening Telegraph's campaign to Drive Sense Into Local Government.
The paper closely followed the story of John Kirkham after Derby City Council refused to grant him a licence to work because his taxi was the wrong shade of yellow.
But after the Telegraph became involved, the council agreed that slight differences in colour shade would be acceptable.
Now he has his licence, Mr Kirkham wants to put two adverts on the sides of his cab.
They read: This shade of yellow is now 'legal' after the Derby Evening Telegraph forced the city council to rethink its bananas yellow cab policy. Evening Telegraph - Driving some sense into local government.
The council claims that the wording of the adverts is too provocative and would not allow them to be used.
Mr Kirkham has now appealed to Derby Magistrates, arguing that "the whole point of advertising is to be provocative".
The case was adjourned until October 25 after a request to have it heard at the High Court was rejected.
