Racking up the years in Cambridgeshire

Eight new members have joined an exclusive club for long-serving employees of Cambridgeshire Newspapers - the only entry qualification is 21 years of continuous service.

Linda Chilvers, who has actually been employed since 1962, is now a member after she worked since 1979 as a part-time library assistant.

Gladys Cooper started work in 1968 after she filled in for her husband Brian, who injured himself as a part-time driver, and has stayed ever since.

Pauline Williams initially began work for two weeks, but it developed into 21 years as she became the press production manager's secretary.

Deputy administration manager Angela Hubbard joined in 1978 and now works for the weekly news titles. Also joining is Susan Smith, an administration manager on evening and weekly papers.

Jayne Ellum has spent her career in newspaper sales, whilst Ron Cockerton is now a mailroom assistant after spending much of his career on the road.

Ann Newman is also admitted to the club having been employed since 1965.

Cambridgeshire Newspapers includes the Cambridge Evening News and the Weekly News series.
