Vote on town's "hottestissue"

Readers are being asked to give their views on a new football stadium for their town.

The Shropshire Star has asked readers to contribute to the debate over a new home for Shrewsbury Town.

The paper is to join forces with the local council to publish a questionnaire testing public opinion over what it is billing "the town's hottest issue".

Readers will be polled on whether or not the borough council should spend taxpayers' money to kick-start the scheme in a deal which would allow the stadium to be built without creating a housing estate to pay for it.

The questionnaire replies will help the council decide which way forward it should go, with the survey already having been given the green light by officials.
