The Competition Minister has agreed to allow Newsquest to go ahead with its acquisition of the Dimbleby Newspaper Group without an official inquiry.

The consent was given because the eight papers involved, the Richmond & Twickenham Times; Kingston, Surbiton, & New Malden Times; Brentford, Chiswick & Isleworth Times; Hounslow, Feltham & Hanworth Times; Barnes, Mortlake & Sheen Times; Putney & Wimbledon Times; Teddington & Hampton Times and the Wandsworth Borough News have a circulation figure within agreed limits.

Consent from the Minister for Competition, Melanie Johnson, was needed because of the circulation figures of papers in the Newsquest Media Group.
