The story of RAF Waddington and the Lancaster PA474 is being told in two special publications by the Lincolnshire Echo in the run up to the Waddington International Air Show.
In a full preview of the show, which takes place on June 30, and July 1, the Echo has produced a special 48-page publication.
It features an in-depth look at aircraft, flyers and events, including the Red Arrows, the Canberra and Hunter veterans, the Vulcan XH558 restoration campaign, the "Tiger" gathering, and the Lancaster diamond jubilee.
A book, Big Skies Over Lincolnshire - Bygone Memories from Bomber County, compiled largely from the archives of the Lincolnshire Echo is also being published.
The Lancaster PA474 was brought to RAF Waddington in August 1965 on the initiative of a squadron commander.
Although it didn't look much at the time, the Lanc found a loving home where restoration turned it into a vital part of the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
