Blackpool hospital bosses have thanked the Gazette for highlighting the need for more volunteers.
Six months ago, Blackpool Victoria Hospital's library service, which had been established for more than 30 years, had to fold because of dwindling numbers of volunteers.
But after the Gazette ran a story highlighting the good work of the hospital's 440 volunteers, the service is back up and running.
A spokesperson for the hospital said: "We are very grateful to the Gazette for publicising the wonderful work our volunteers do.
"This article has helped to raise the profile of volunteers who make such a valuable contribution to the hospital.
"We are delighted we have been able to relaunch our hospital library service."
