Newspaper readers have overwhelmingly backed a school that sent a boy home after he turned up for lessons with a pierced eyebrow.
Only 33 readers out of 761 that phoned the Bradford Telegraph and Argus' special poll supported the boy's parents.
The eleven-year-old was ordered to remove the "bar piercing" before he could return to his classes.
But his parents kept him away from school as the row developed.
Head teacher Janet Grayshon said after the vote: "I'm pleased but I really feel for the child.
"At the end of the day the person stuck in the middle is the child who has feelings.
"I hope he comes back to school as soon as possible because it's the best place for him.
"It's not my side that the voters have chosen - it's the side of safety. It's a health and safety issue."
The lad's mum said he would not be returning to school. It would take six weeks for the piercing to heal, she said, by which time he would have left anyway.
