Tragic death of Derby writer

A Derby Evening Telegraph writer has died two months after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Paul Heselton (63) had written book reviews for the Evening Telegraph's Week Out arts supplement and sister magazine Derbyshire Today since November 2000.

In April this year he was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Mr Heselton was a college lecturer by profession. He took early retirement from Wilmorton College, Derby, in 1994, where he worked as business studies lecturer.

But his love of education saw him go on to take part-time lecturing posts at Foston Hall and Sudbury prisons, where he usually taught English literature and creative writing, but also took cookery classes.

Mr Heselton leaves a widow, Ceinwen, a daughter, Ruth, and a son, Neil.
