Lancahsire gets online

The Lancashire Evening Telegraph is getting community groups and voluntary organisations online.

The newspaper is launching 'Communigate' as part of its internet site, www.thisislancashire.co.uk.

The service gives non-profit making local groups a free web site and allows them to build it with the minimum of computer skills - and the site is then listed by This is Lancashire.

Communigate administrator Richard Lewis said: "Communigate is intended to be at the very heart of this newspaper's community."

"Organisations, for example, can put all the latest news on their site, which is much easier than sending out letters.

So far, organisations including youth groups, residents associations and scout troops have signed up for the service.
