Newspaper publishers will be guided through ideas on developing Internet traffic and generating website revenue at the Newspaper Society's New Media Conference.
The conference takes place at the Swallow St John's Hotel, Solihull, on November 7, and will be followed by the presentation of the first-ever Newspaper Society New Media Awards, recognising the very best work of the industry.
Graham Mead, regional managing director, Trinity Mirror Digital Media will chair the one-day conference aimed at everyone involved in the development of electronic media at regional press companies.
Experts from both the UK and the USA will discuss approaches to online advertising, sponsorship, e-commerce, content, emerging routes to market and online classifieds.
Speakers include:
- Olivier Beauvillian, associate analyst, Jupiter Europe, who will speak about the development of online content and the key drivers of audience for local websites.
- Brian White, media services director, Real Media UK Ltd, who will offer his view on what regional press companies should be doing to ensure they attract their share of online national advertising revenue.
- John Haile, vice president - media convergence, Tribune Company, who will deal with staff restructure and explain how his newspaper in America trained staff to become multimedia journalists who deal with multi-platform communications.
- Simon Danciger, chief executive, FSAuctions, who will provide a perspective on the online auction marketplace and reveal the company's plans for future development.
- Michael Troxler, content management UK, ScreamingMedia.com, who will highlight the revenue opportunities provided by content syndication.
- Jonathan Turpin, chief executive, Fish4, who will talk about the future of online classified and the role of the regional press in developing this service.
