Elaine Blackburne has joined Trinity Mirror New Media as Content Manager Teesside.

She was previously Assistant Head of Content at the Newcastle Journal.

Elaine (35) is part of a new content team being set up at the Evening Gazette offices in Middlesbrough which will be providing exclusive on-line news, sports and features about the whole of Teesside.

The team includes a reporter, Nesrein Bashir; a researcher, Michelle Fyles and a content clerk, Andrea Small.

The team currently has a vacancy for a senior journalist, which is advertised on HoldTheFrontPage's "online jobs page" click here who will deputise for Elaine.

Elaine started her career as a trainee with Surrey and South London Newspapers in 1987. Two years later she moved on to the Informer Series, but left in the same year to become Chief Reporter with the Aldershot News.

In 1993 she joined the Express and Echo in Exeter as health reporter, and in 1998 she joined the Newcastle Journal in the same role before becoming Assistant Head of Content last year.
