Readers in the south are enjoying the benefits of a revamped ThisisEssex website.

The site is full of news, views and information from 22 local newspapers across the county.

It is part of the network of Thisis.... sites run by three of the country's biggest regional newspaper groups - Northcliffe Newspapers, Trinity and Newsquest.

It has undergone a radical redesign and aims to reach readers at home and across the world.

The changes have improved the site's speed, layout, shape and flexibility to make it more easily accessible. And it can be accessed through WAP mobile phones too

Direct click-through links to the most popular parts of the site are also included to speed readers direct through to local news, sport, business pages, adverts and the Beehive community pages.

Simon Townsend, content manager for Northcliffe Electronic Publishing, said 14 of the company's websites had been upgraded with a further four to be improved.

He said: "The idea of these revamps was to bring the sites into the new millennium with a fresh new look, better navigation and improved navigation.

"We're looking forward to taking them even further."
