Former editor expands online local news service

A former weekly newspaper editor is expanding his portfolio of community news websites.

David Jackman took redundancy from Newsquest titles the Epping Forest Guardian, Harlow and Bishop's Stortford Citizens and Epping Forest Independent in October 2008 after 21 years with the title.

Just over a year ago he launched everythingeppingforest.co.uk which he promised would cover both big stories as well as community news and grassroots issues which he felt local newspapers had started to ignore.

David says that, owing to the popularity of Everything Epping Forest, which regularly receives more than 40,000 hits per week, he has now launched 'Everything Harlow' which is due to go live today.

"Everything Epping Forest has been featured on Sky News and Radio 4 as an example of the way forward for local news and information following the recent redundancies in the regional press," he told HTFP.
