University's project to document Pilger's life's work

The University of Lincoln is launching an archive project to document permanently and definitively the work of campaigning journalist John Pilger.

Material will be used from the journalist's website JohnPilger.com which will be redesigned and relaunched as part of the project.

The archive will feature Pilger's written, photographic and television pieces from his 50 years of journalism.


The Nottingham Evening Post has won an award from the Scouts in recognition of its work highlighting the contributions of young people to the community.

The Community Advocacy Award 2009 at the Nottinghamshire Scout annual meeting in front of 300 people, including council leaders and chief execs from across the county.

Editor Malcolm Pheby said: "It was an honour to accept the award, particularly as it came from an organisation that does so much for the local community."


Northern Echo reporter Lauren Pyrah experienced life without eye sight to mark World Sight Day.

Lauren donned a thick blind fold and attempted a brief spell of shopping around the her Darlington patch with her vision.

MEN Media, publisher of the Manchester Evening News and associated weeklies, has appointed Dave Raywood as strategic marketing director.

Dave will be responsible for setting the sales strategy and developing customer behaviour models.

He joins the firm from Gold Medal Travel, where he was head of marketing and e-commerce from 2008.


Nottingham Trent University journalism graduate Sarah Featley was crowned the centre's student journalist of the year.

The competition is run in conjunction with Stoke-on-Trent daily The Sentinel and recognises the best student taking a post-graduate journalism course at NTU.

Sarah, 23, has now taken a job with a Midlands PR and marketing firm.
