Newspaper group's websites go green

A newspaper publisher's family of companion websites are going green with a new dedicated environment section.

Northcliffe Media's 'thisis' sites are now carrying their own green channels to bring green information, tips, locally-focussed surveys, energy saving advice and targeted advertising together with local environmental news stories.

The channels also feature a carbon footprint calculator, insulation grants checker and downloadable posters to encourage your office to be green.

The local sites will also have access to thousands of products in the Big Green Shop.

The sites are being produced in conjunction with Northcliffe's environment site Big Green Switch which has also undergone a makeover to tie in with the 'thisis' network design.

Big Green Switch publisher Sian Armstrong said: "It is an exciting time for Big Green Switch and we hope to educate a wider audience about the small things they can do to make a massive difference to the environment.

"Big Green Switch is a very popular site and it is nice to be able to offer this information to the 'thisis' network."

Northcliffe is certainly helping its carbon footprint by closing its Bristol presses and transporting papers by lorry from Didcot every day.

Come on, Northcliffe helped reduce its carbon footprint when it laid off all those staff. Just think of the reduction in carbon emissions now the car parks are half empty!
