Writers and reviewers are wanted for a new website start-up focusing on TV, film, arts and entertainments to be launched next month.

Newly-formed MF Publishing says it is looking for dozens of new UK-based writers for the venture and is inviting candidates to submit 500-word reviews of any current TV programme.

"The website is being launched by a group of new and emerging writers to further employment and career opportunities whilst providing a new and entertaining venue for the public to discover inspiring, informative and enlightening reviews," said a spokesman.

Regional press publisher Newsquest has launched a series of new newspaper websites designed to be read on mobile phones.

The 148 new sites, which include mobile.thenorthernecho.co.uk, mobile.dorsetecho.co.uk and mobile.theargus.co.uk, are streamlined versions of the paper's normal sites.

The company said the sites are being rolled out without large-scale new investment, as they are based around the same content management systems in place at their regional titles.

Newsquest is also expanding its use of SMS text messaging, and said it had sent more than a million messages to readers last year.

Work by three South London Press photographers will be on show later this month at a new exhibition called 'Waiting Rooms'. The shots by Hannah Lucy Jones, Robert Logan and Magnus Andersson focus on large scale regeneration projects.

The trio, along with three other exhibitors, have looked at abandoned spaces for the displays from failed social housing projects to a derelict hospital. It runs from the 12 to 15 February at The Bear, in Camberwell New Road, London.

A free weekly paper is ceasing publication nine months after it was launched. The Nuneaton Observer started a 50,000-copy print run last April as a joint venture between Observer Standard Newspapers and Iliffe News and Media.

Editorial content and advertising was provided by the Iliffe team in Nuneaton with support from the Observer Standard's office in Coventry.

The moves is part of a relaunch of Iliffe daily the Heartland Evening News. Now called the Nuneaton News, it is paid for four days a week but distributed free on Wednesdays with a property supplement.

Colin Ramsey, the former head of online sales at ITV, has joined the Press Association's digital sales team. Colin completes the six-strong team which is responsible for selling PA's content to digital customers.

Industrial action planned for three weeks in Newsquest York has been suspended. NUJ members at The Press and sister weeklies held midday chapel meetings yesterday and on Monday and were planning on doing the same, Monday to Friday, for the next three weeks.

The union says this has been postponed after it was agreed the chapel would meet with management next Monday for further talks. The industrial action was called amid fears of possible cutbacks.
