New-look for Newsquest websites

Regional newspaper publisher Newsquest has begun the roll out of its new-look websites.

Titles such as the Lancashire Telegraph, Telegraph & Argus in Bradford and York daily The Press are now sporting the modernised and revamped look.

The company has been working on the project for several months with other centres expected to go live over the coming weeks.

Eagle-eyed regular visitors to the sites will spot changes such as a navigation menu stretching across the top of the screen rather than down the side and bigger banner adverts.

The new sites also fill out the entire screen, maximising the use of space and avoiding empty white spaces.

lancashiretelegraph.co.uk helpfully leads readers through some of the major changes which include having to register their details to post comments under stories.

The website also has live traffic updates, weather reports and 'What's On' information on every page.

Birthday, marriages and deaths have also been moved into one section titled 'Announcements' while blogs and comments are also paired together.

Newsquest declined to comment at this stage but official news about the roll-out is expected from the company in the next few days.
