Weekly newspapers join forces to launch new title

Trinity Mirror is combining two of its weekly papers to launch a new free title next week.

The Wrexham Mail and Wrexham BuySell will make way for the new Wrexham Chronicle with existing staff putting together the new paper.

The Chronicle will offer news, events, sports and business as well as greater classifieds including motors, property, entertainment and 'Buy Sell'.

The newspaper will be delivered to more than 22,000 homes across the Wrexham area with a further 3,000 copies available to pick up at newsagents across the town centre.

An electronic version of the paper will also be available after signing up at wrexhamchronicle.co.uk.

The new paper will be edited by Flintshire Chronicle chief Kevin Hughes and join other titles in Trinity Mirror's 'Chronicle' series in North Wales and Cheshire.

He said: "Wrexham is a town growing in confidence, rightly proud of its improved economic performance and stature in North Wales.

"It deserves a newspaper like the new Wrexham Chronicle to reflect that success."

TM's Chronicle brand has been running for more than 233 years with this new paper joining the established Chester Chronicle, Midweek Chronicle and Flintshire Chronicle titles.

The total distribution figure for the series is estimated at more than 110,000 copies.

Warren Butcher, MD of Cheshire and North Wales, added: "The launch of the free Wrexham Chronicle demonstrates our ongoing commitment to provide an unrivalled, unique and easily accessible multimedia service for the people of Wrexham.

"The Wrexham Chronicle will sit neatly alongside our market leading morning title, The Daily Post, and combine to provide the Wrexham business community with greater value, choice, service and results."
