Web exclusive for North London weekly

A local newspaper in London has embraced the "web-first" ethos by using its website to carry an exclusive interview with new city Mayor Boris Johnson.

The Willesden and Brent Times joined forces with Life FM 103.6 to carry out the new Mayor's first interview with a local paper since his election victory in May.

In the interview, Mr Johnson describes how he intends to tackle violent crime, housing shortages, academy schools and bendy buses, as well as revealing why he and the Prince of Wales were discussing fruit and veg.

A longer version of the interview, carried out by news editor Andy McCorkell and sub editor Lorraine King, will appear in next week's edition of the paper.

Earlier this month, the Henley Standard launched its new website with the paper's first video interview with the town's departing MP

Meanwhile editor of thelondonpaper Stefano Hatfield has apologised to Mr Johnson after publishing holiday photographs of him and his family.

The photos, published on May 28, showed Mr Johnson and his children enjoying a break in Turkey.

Mr Johnson complained under clauses three and six of the Editor's Code which covers privacy issues around the children of celebrities.

The complaint was resolved when Mr Hatfield sent a letter of apology to the mayor and his wife.
