Brave reporter wins standing ovation

Reporter and leukaemia sufferer Adrian Sudbury has been honoured with another top industry award for his blog about dealing with the illness.

Adrian, of the Huddersfield Daily Examiner, was named multimedia journalist of the year in the Regional Press Awards organised by Press Gazette.

He was too ill to attend the award ceremony in person but addressed the event with a prerecorded video message and received a standing ovation.

His parents picked up the prize on his behalf.

The Northcliffe-owned Hull Daily Mail's coverage of the city's floods last June earned it the daily newspaper of the year prize at last week's awards.

The paper's entire team went on stage wearing Hull City scarves to collect their award in recognition of their local football team reaching the Premiership this year for the first time in 104 years.
