Networking online is the next challenge for Evening Chronicle

The Evening Chronicle has joined the growing list of regional newspapers making use of social networking website Facebook.

Its new page allows people to easily share the Chronicle's RSS news feed, which runs on its companion site, www.chroniclelive.co.uk.

People who join as fans of the page can instantly see when ChronicleLive is updated and are easily notified of major breaking news or promotions and competitions.

The Facebook functionality follows the success of the Evening Chronicle's YouTube channel which can be found at youtube.com/user/ChronicleLive.

Multimedia editor Colin George said: "Content developer Lucy Peacock has worked hard to bring this Facebook page to fruition and it's further evidence of our commitment to drive new readership towards the paper, both in print and online."
