Newspaper execs to be grilled by Lords' committee

Trinity Mirror chief executive Sly Bailey and Daily Mail and General Trust chairman Lord Rothermere will appear before a Lord's committee tomorrow.

The event sees the final meeting of the House of Lord's Communications Committee as it hears evidence in its enquiry into media ownership and the news.

Lord Rothermere will give evidence, alongside DMGT chief executive Charles Sinclair and Associated Newspapers MD Kevin Beatty, about his role as chairman and how the different parts of the media group interact.

Lord Rothermere will also be questioned on how editorial independence is protected on his newspapers.

Sly Bailey, who will appear alongside Trinity Mirror's group legal director Paul Vickers, will be asked about the influence of the TM board on the content of the group's newspapers and her views on regulation and consolidation in the newspaper industry.
