National Union of Journalists members at Trinity Mirror have agreed a new pay deal with management.
The NUJ chapel at the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo gave the pay deal the green light after improvements were made to the original offer.
The new structure will see increases of up to 6.9 per cent for the lowest-paid members of staff.
All staff will receive a minimum three per cent raise but higher increases will be added to the lowest pay bands.
This means the lowest-paid weekly senior journalists will see their salaries rise by £1,094 to £17,000 while newly qualified seniors on the daily titles will enjoy a 4.2 per cent rise, to £21,000.
There were also further concessions for new trainees, meaning they will see a £500 increase and will achieve higher pay rates up to six months early.
This latest pay settlement follows on from the agreement reached at the Coventry Telegraph and its associated weekly titles – also owned by Trinity Mirror.
The chapel negotiated a deal which will push pay rates up by a minimum of £850 this year in a two-stage arrangement.
