Press agency reporter joins up with journalism students

The head of a north-west news agency has teamed up with journalism students for their final year project.

David Graham, who runs Watsons Press Agency in Blackpool, is writing opinion columns for the The Preston Journal at the University of Central Lancashire.

His first two were on a far-right party standing in the local elections and a pub closing.

David, who also worked for the Gazette in Blackpool, said: "They were designed to give the newspaper a firm and determined stance on the two topics close to my heart: beer and politics.

"I'm always pleased to help out students in whatever way I can, having been a student at the same place 30 years ago when it was the Harris College."

Course tutor Delwyn Swingewood said: "Recruiting a star columnist shows great use of contacts.

"It's wonderful to have veterans like David willing to give up their time to work so closely with our students."
