Peter Kilfoyle, MP for Liverpool Walton, has tabled an Early Day Motion calling on political journalists to apply standards to themselves which they demand of others. It comes in the wake of recent media commentary on maintenance of the Speaker's room.
In it, Mr Kilfoyle notes that £8.2m has been spent on the renovation of the press gallery but that the media pays nothing for its use or London telephone calls. He says he is "bemused" that ten hacks have a car park pass for the Palace of Westminster and notes the £210,000 annual subsidy of the press bar.

Archant Life has added another magazine to its stable of lifestyle titles. North East Life is a paid-for monthly magazine covering Northumberland, Durham, Tyne and Wear and Tees Valley.
The first edition features interviews with football legend Sir Bobby Robson, singer-songwriter Chris Rea and TV presenter Matt Baker. The magazine will be edited by Anne Graham.
