Award-winning editor and journalist Simon Kelner is to share his wealth of experience with print journalism degree students as a new visiting fellow at the University of Gloucestershire.
The editor-in-chief of The Independent and Independent on Sunday newspapers, and former sports editor of the Observer, will be providing students with a unique perspective into the working world of modern journalism. He started out as a trainee at the Neath Guardian in 1979.

Newspaper publisher Trinity Mirror has bought web design company Rippleffect Studio Limited. Liverpool-based Rippleffect operates sport, leisure and retail websites in the UK.
Clients include Everton, Sunderland and Fulham football clubs and Littlewoods and Mercedes-Benz. Rippleffect is expected to generate around £3m revenue in its first year of ownership.

The Sports Journalists' Association raised more than £4,000 for The Journalists' Charity at its annual awards ceremony.
