New-look website with added nostalgia for Trinity newspaper

The Coventry Telegraph is the latest Trinity Mirror regional title to undergo an online makeover.

But regular visitors will also spot a new section dedicated to yesteryear in the Midlands city.

A major section of coventrytelegraph.net has been reserved for nostalgia and old pictures of the city.

The Telegraph has a wide selection of pictures from its archives, dating back more than 110 years, which are also available for purchase.

These include shots of historic landmarks including the wartime blitz and the building of the world-famous cathedral.

The Coventry Telegraph is also featuring pictures of old school classes and sports teams sent in by readers.

Telegraph editor Alan Kirby said: "Of course, the new website is about breaking news and sport but our historic picture archives are immense and offer a unique glimpse into Coventry's past.

"There are thousands of pictures which we could never hope to publish in the paper. Our website gives us a fantastic new outlet.

"It's a superb editorial and commercial opportunity."

The Telegraph joins other Trinity Mirror titles such as neighbours the Birmingham Post and Mail to benefit from a digital overhaul programme which started last summer.

The new site incorporates features such as more unique content, breaking news, video footage, picture galleries and user-generated content like blogs.
