Newspaper creates dedicated multilingual blog for Polish ex-pats

The growing Polish population in the north-east of England has prompted one newspaper to start a multilingual blog.

The Evening Chronicle has created 'Poles to Newcastle' on its ChronicleLive.co.uk website.

  • Alexandra Jarocka
  • The blog tells the story of how Polish interpreter Alexandra Jarocka came to live in the north east and explains how she lives her life in the area.

There are also plans for the blog to include useful tips and information for Polish people living in the UK, covering how to find a job, how to make friends and how to resolve problems such as the language barrier.

It is estimated that 5,000 Polish workers and their families live in the north east.

Evening Chronicle editor Paul Robertson said: "Like many areas across the country the Polish population has exploded in the north east over the last couple of years.

"Hopefully, Alex's blog can help integrate the Polish community into life here and provide a platform through the Chronicle where they can discuss issues or seek advice."

To follow Alex's blog visit the Evening Chronicle's website.
