Media Wales is adding to its online team as it continues its quest to be a fully-integrated digital newsroom.

The Trinity Mirror company publishes the Western Mail and South Wales Echo as well as Wales on Sunday and the Celtic group of weekly papers.

Now they are looking for six new internet journalists as the newsroom continues to restructure as well as planning for a move to new offices in Cardiff later this year.

Up for grabs are an online communities editor post, a multimedia sports journalist and four multimedia journalist positions.

Some existing staff will take on new job roles and a new head of content will oversee content distribution across all Media Wales titles.

Pete Morrell is currently assistant editor of the Western Mail but from April will be head of multimedia.

He told holdthefrontpage: "The move is providing us with the springboard for the various changes in the newsroom.

"There's a management structure within the editorial department which is going across all titles.

"The idea is to focus more on our online service then we've ever done previously.

"Instead of being title focussed it will be web focussed so we'll have people working across titles.

"All our journalists from all our papers will feed copy into the website."

Pete added: "Part of the whole process is to provide more flexibility but there will still be people who are working for one title.

"We're still rival papers – that provides a bit of a buzz in the office and competition will remain strong."

Last year Media Wales announced that up to 17 jobs were to go as part of the restructuring including managers and photographers.

Under the new structure each print title will retain an editor while deputy editors will oversee day-to-day running of the newsroom and website and be re-titled executive editors.
