Sports editor bows out after over 30 years in local newspapers

A sport's editor whose career spanned three decades has retired.

Greg Edwards has been in charge of sport at the Malvern Gazette and Ledbury Reporter for the past ten years before which he worked at the Evesham Journal.

His radar took in the traditional staples of the local press such as football and rugby as well as less-covered sports including sailing, chess and crib.

Gazette editor David Edwards said: "Greg's commitment to local sport was second to none.

"In particular he promoted grass roots reporting of youth sport.

"His contribution to the promotion of sport in the area should not be underestimated and as a newspaper, we have been very lucky to benefit from his experience and diligence.

"We wish him well."
