A deputy editor has taken part in a special anniversary recording of a talking newspaper.
Tim Warner, from Archant's Norfolk weekly newspapers, was interviewed for the Wymondham and Attleborough Talking Newspaper's 500th edition this week.
Tim has been volunteering for the audio newspaper for the past 18 months by reading the local news for visually impaired subscribers.
Anglia TV presenter and newsreader Clare Weller interviewed Tim as host of the milestone edition which was recorded in front of a live audience of listeners, volunteers and supporters.
Tim told holdthefrontpage: "We have several teams that do it – it's good PR for the paper of course and it's quite good fun."
Tim discussed the future of local newspapers in his interview and Clare also met the winner of a local essay-writing competition held to mark the anniversary.
Other features lined up for the recording included extracts from their extensive archives, a sound tour of popular community events and the 900th anniversary celebrations of the local abbey.
The talking newspaper was initiated by Wymondham Lions Club in September 1997 which started a major fund-raising drive.
The 50 volunteers now put together a weekly 60-minute news tape, a monthly magazine and a quarterly news review programme.
They also record audio versions of the Norwich Diocese monthly magazine, a quarterly tenants' magazine and book reviews for Norfolk Library service.
Plans are now in progress to switch from cassettes to digital recordings.
