Reporter takes modelling lessons for newspaper feature

A south London reporter swapped the newsroom for the catwalk when she took a lesson in how to strut her stuff.

Cara Lee, from the weekly Guardian series, hooked up with a catwalk coach in Streatham to see if she could cut it as a model.

Cara's lesson focussed on such essential catwalk manoeuvres as stances, pivots and two pointers which had to be done while looking sultry and graceful.

  • Strike a pose, there's nothing to it.

  • She said: "I've never considered myself much of a model but how hard could it be?

"To say I could barely complete any of the moves without losing my balance or forgetting which way to turn would be accurate.

"While former model and expert catwalk walker Francis Mathew tried to shower me with encouragement, I knew I was a lost cause."
