|Employment Type:||Maternity cover|
We are looking for a senior reporter to join the Grantham Journal editorial team, initially on a 12 months contract as cover for maternity leave.
We are part of a lively news patch with a strong print and digital readership. Grantham is a growing town - the largest in South Kesteven - with a number of ambitious projects in the pipeline. We are proud to be part of its bright future, and to be at the heart of the communities we serve.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, have strong news gathering skills and be able to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. A sharp news sense is vital, as is the ability to provide accurate copy for both print and online. A solid understanding of social media is key, so too is an attitude that is supportive, enthusiastic and positive.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a news team which works hard to cover issues close to the hearts of its readers. The successful candidate will be able to focus clearly on the issues that hold the interest of our readership and be keen to build relationships with key figures in the community. They will bring in stories, be good with people and have a good telephone manner.
Flexibility with time is necessary to ensure meetings and events are covered. A full UK driving licence is also required.
We offer a competitive salary and all the benefits you would expect from a progressive media company.
Iliffe Media is a growing, independent company with a proud history in local media and a keen eye on the future. We think the printed newspaper is as important as its digital presence and that all content has to be local and relevant. We’re now the leading local newspaper publisher in this area and we aim to do things differently.
If you think you would fit in well, send a covering letter and your CV to Content editor Marie Bond on: firstname.lastname@example.org by the closing date of Friday, September 29.
Please mention HoldtheFrontPage when applying for this role. This advert will expire on Friday 29th September 2017.
