Job Description

Senior Reporter

Cambridge  (Six Months Fixed Term Contract)

Competitive salary + company benefits

The Cambridge News  is looking for a senior reporter on a fixed-term contract. One of our talented team is off on secondment so we have a six-month opportunity for a qualified senior journalist in our fast-paced, digital-first newsroom. The News has a fast-growing website and a newspaper printed six days a week.

Our Business: Trinity Mirror plc

Trinity Mirror plc is one of the UK’s largest multi-media companies, employing more than 6,000 people across 60-plus locations around the country.

Our iconic brands include the Cambridge News, Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo and, nationally, the Mirror. Our content is trusted, relevant, reliable and essential on social, mobile, desktop and in print and our loyal readers and advertisers are attracted by the knowledge, insight and vital services that we provide. None of this would be possible without our dedicated employees driving the business forward.

You

You will be able to generate story ideas, write them with our digital audience in mind, create and curate further multi-media content, put together total content packages that work brilliantly on all of our platforms, and use social media to get our stories to as many people as possible and engage with them.

Ideally you will have an NCE/NQJ or equivalent and be able to produce content that is compelling, engaging and audience focused while also adhering to media law and the ISPO code.

We expect our employees to maintain the highest personal standards of professionalism and integrity at all times within the framework of current legislation. Ensuring that Trinity Mirror’s editorial and company policies are upheld across the newsroom and maintaining a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of media law and IPSO code is required.

What you need to know

Trinity Mirror plc has a strong benefits package which includes, for this role, a competitive salary and pension, along with an extensive, flexible benefits portfolio (to be discussed at interview).

The closing date for this role is March 31, 2017.
