The Western Telegraph is looking for a self-motivated and talented reporter to join its award-winning team.
Named Best Weekly Newspaper at the Wales Media Awards in March 2017, the Western Telegraph has been reporting on all aspects of Pembrokeshire life for 160 years.
The successful applicant for this role needs to be an enthusiastic self-starter who can find stories, make contacts and fit in with our hard-working team, writing across print, web and social media.
They will also have excellent news sense and the desire to see their name on the front page, while a good writing style and attention to detail is a must.
They would be required to write and upload breaking news and features, and have a flexible attitude to working hours in order to meet the demands of a busy news schedule.
Applicants should ideally be qualified to NCTJ preliminary standard with shorthand at 100 words a minute.
Candidates must also hold a full, clean driving licence.
The Western Telegraph is the flagship title of Newsquest’s West Wales portfolio and is based in Haverfordwest close to the stunning west Wales coast.
The position reports directly to the group editor.
The ability to speak Welsh would be advantageous but is not essential.
