ARTE G.E.I.E., THE EUROPEAN CULTURE CHANNEL HEADQUARTERED IN STRASBOURG, FRANCE, IS OPENING A FULL-TIME 13-MONTH VACANCY FOR AN

ARTE EUROPE EDITOR FOR ENGLISH-SPEAKING AUDIENCES (M/F)

THE ARTE EUROPE PROJECT INCLUDES A RANGE OF PROGRAMMES SUBTITLED IN ENGLISH ON ARTE.TV, APPS AND SMART TV. THE PROJECT HAS RECEIVED SUPPORT FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION.

CORE DUTIES OF THE EDITOR

- To check, by sampling, the linguistic and technical quality of the English subtitles available across the 400 hours' worth of programmes put online throughout the year.

- To draw up and execute the schedule of publications on the various platforms; to identify the programmes to be highlighted and to group together programmes in categories.

- To prepare material for publication and programme promotion: selecting images and copywriting programme blurb and titles.

- To handle the community management of the offering: to manage English language publications on social networks; to moderate comments and maintain a dialogue with users.

- To prepare communication materials to promote the offering: newsletter, press release, etc.

- To develop and implement initiatives to promote the range of programmes aimed at English-speaking audience.

- To analyse the viewing figures for the programmes aimed at English speakers.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

- Master's degree in digital communications or journalism or comparable qualification.

- Professional experience in English in digital publications, communications or journalism.

- Perfect command of the English language, both oral and written; the highest standard of English spelling, grammar, and syntax.

- Very good knowledge of the French and/or German language.

- Knowledge of Spanish, Polish or Italian would be an advantage.

- Knowledge of English-speaking audiences, their expectations and behaviour associated with internet use.

- Knowledge of the use of specific software packages: CMS, publication interfaces, search engines, photo editing.

- Knowledge of specific tools: publication on social networks, SEO, analytics.

- The ability to work in a team.

- Communication and interpersonal skills.

- The ability to work under considerable time pressure and a fast reaction time.

- Discipline and organisational skills.

- Independence and versatility.

- Basic knowledge of communication and media law.

- A strong affinity for ARTE content.
