Unflappable reporter Steve get the bird

An unflappable nature is a must for any journalist, but Coventry Evening Telegraph reporter Steve Evans was really put to the test when he spotted a swan crossing one of the city's busiest roads.

He and photographer James Balfour came across the bird as they made their way to what they thought was a routine assignment to meet an author at a bookshop. They became part of the unfolding drama as they leapt to its rescue.

Motorists swerved as Steve chased the bird along the brow of Coventry Canal bridge in Foleshill Road.
