Friday Funnies: Editor's apology over glaring own goal

It's that strange time of year with summer well and truly gone but Christmas festivities still some weeks away. Fear not though, as HoldtheFrontPage comes to the rescue with some more hilarious press funnies. Please keep them coming to: editor.htfp@and.co.uk

Just like newspaper readers, we always appreciate it when an editor holds his hands up and apologises for a mistake in his paper. See this recent entry by Northern Echo news chief Peter Barron on his blog:

And also on a sporting theme, it seems news takes its time (nearly eight months to be precise) to reach the sleepy Norfolk town of Kings Lynn (from Lynn News):

Here's a picture of Mr Brown receiving his award in March.....

.....and a full report of the night's festivities, both courtesy of the Sports Journalists' Association website.

Perhaps the Morpeth Herald could have chosen a more appropriate picture to illustrate a story about a four-car smash:

The menace of the Google ad has struck again, this time on the Scarborough Evening News website:

Not wishing to take our Friday Funnies downmarket, but we enjoyed this reader's letter to the Spalding Guardian:

Continuing the sexual theme, over now to the Derby Evening Telegraph website which has fallen victim to the curse of the unforgiving word count limit:

And finally, a good old-fashioned spelling error from the Monmouthshire Beacon:

If you enjoyed these then click through to our previous collection: Wanted – press officer with gift of the gab

Or see for hundreds more at the HoldtheFrontPage Facebook group.
