A good all-rounder describes her perfect job...

Samantha Lakehal is a student at NoSWeat Journalism Training College - as well as a veterinary nurse, creative person and good all-rounder at trying jobs and deciding that they are not for her. Here she takes the opportunity to Sound Off on Holdthefrontpage.

I have always been a creative artistic monster and find that the worst kind of torture for me, is to be 'boxed' into the system of a regular job which does not allow for creativity.

Having worked as a freelance veterinary journalist and qualified veterinary nurse for the past two years and gone through as many jobs as underwear, I decided to do a part time newspaper journalism course.

Well, another kind of torture for me, is Central Government. Guaranteed to make me sleep at night, should I wish to take my book to bed. With my exam in three weeks, I have resorted to watching the Parliament channel - much to my husband's disgust. But that is another story.

"When are you going to get a proper job?" sneer my friends and family.

After applying for a job in sales and being offered the position, I dutifully informed them that I would now be part of the workforce and would put my creative self back into its little box.

Have you ever taken a job that you hate so much, that you wished you were ill? That you could visualise a major train strike to stop you going in, so you could stay at home and watch This Morning?

My lunch breaks in this new job were spent walking the streets in the freezing cold, sitting with homeless people on benches, just to avoid spending lunchtime in the workplace. In work time, the clock became the focus of my day, as did going to the toilet and dreaming of becoming a writer.
