Q: What is the phone number for my local newspaper?
A: Click on the links marked "Daily" or "Weekly" (newspaper) in the boxes on the right-hand-side of this page to find the telephone number you require.

Q: I have a story for my local newspaper, can you publish it?
A: HoldtheFrontPage is chiefly for journalists and is not a local or regional newspaper. Please click here for contact details for your local paper.

Q: How can I become a reporter?
A: Organising work experience at a newspaper is the first step.
Getting your face known around newspapers, working for them whenever you can and then getting a job can be more important than pre-entry qualifications.
Most companies will organise training, either in-house or on block-release courses, and they usually ask for A-levels as a minimum requirement.
There is no minimum starting salary as all newspapers pay both trainees and senior staff according to their qualifications, experience and potential.
The National Council for the Training of Journalists or National Union of Journalists can offer career advice.

Q: How do I search for an article on the website and how far back does the archive go?
A: To search for any article on the website, simply enter a keyword (eg a name, place or, if you know it, part of the story's headline) into the Google search box in the left-hand menu bar of the site. The archives go back to when HoldtheFrontPage was launched in 2000.

Q: How often is the website updated?
A: Each morning we update the very latest news pages, and update throughout the day as the news agenda dictates.
The job vacancies are updated whenever a new vacancy is posted. Our reference pages, such as web reviews, freelance directories and story ideas are updated whenever required.

Q: I receive your daily e-mail each day but wish to unsubscribe from the service. How do I do this?
A: To unsubscribe, simply scroll to the bottom of your last message and there is an opt-out option you can click on. It will take you to the unsubscribe page where you can confirm your decision.

Q: How do I advertise on this website?
A: For all advertising queries, please contact Erica Hardie on 01332 228025, or e-mail erica.hardie@and.co.uk.

Our jobs pages attract more than 18,500 page views each day*

For £175+VAT per week your vacancy can benefit from that exposure.
