Libel dispute is settled

A libel action against the Press and Journal in Aberdeen has been settled out of court.

Scottish company Quantum Claims Compensation Specialists, and director Frank Lefevre, had raised a £75,000 action against the paper at the Court of Session in Edinburgh.

It was suing the Press and Journal over a story it published more than two years ago, based on an interview with one of the company's former clients, which it claimed contained defamatory comments.

As well as seeking damages, Quantum was also asking for a court order to prevent the former client from making any further "defamatory" statements.

An undisclosed agreement has now been reached between the two parties.
