A review is under way into the Editors' Code of Practice, the voluntary code of standards for print journalists.

The Code sets the benchmark for ethical standards, protecting the rights of the individual and the public's right to know.

The Press Complaints Commission, which oversees it, hails it as "the cornerstone of the system of self-regulation to which the industry has made a binding commitment".

The committee is hoping for suggestions from inside and outside of the industry on how the Code might be revised to improve the system of self-regulation.
