Former Chronicle editor to field questions at press watchdog meeting

Former Newcastle Evening Chronicle editor Alison Hastings will be among those answering questions about the press at a public meeting held by the Press Complaints Commission next week.

Alison, BBC trustee for England and a former PCC commissioner, will join the panel for a question and answer session at the event in Oxford.

She will be joined by PCC chairman Sir Christopher Meyer, and other experts, to field questions from the public.

The session, in the Assembly Room at Oxford Town Hall, will follow a surgery for members of the public who want to have a private, informal chat with a senior member of PCC staff about making a complaint to a newspaper or magazine.

PCC staff will explain how the complaints process operates, and offer advice on matters such as how to make a complaint about a newspaper or magazine, and how the PCC's Code of Practice is used.

The event takes place on October 10, and the surgery will be held from 2.30pm to 3.45pm.

It is free to attend, but those interested in attending are asked to register their interest by contacting Tonia Milton on 020 7831 0022 or tonia.milton@pcc.org.uk.
