Press watchdog hits the road

The Press Complaints Commission will be hitting the road again next month when it holds an open day in Glasgow.

It is the seventh such event to be held around the country to help the public find out more about what the press watchdog does.

It will include a question and answer session where a panel - which will include PCC chairman Sir Christopher Meyer, director Tim Toulmin and Charles McGhee, editor of The Herald in Glasgow - will talk about the press and the system of self-regulation.

A surgery will also be held where people will be able to have a private, informal chat with a senior member of staff from the PCC about the print media or about making a complaint to a newspaper.

Staff will explain how the complaints process operates, and will be able to offer advice on issues such as the rights of individuals from different groups and what people can expect from making a complaint.

The open day will be held at the Recital Room, Glasgow City Halls, Candleriggs, Glasgow, on November 7 from 2.30pm.

To register your interest in attending contact Tonia Milton on 020 7831 0022 or email tonia.milton@pcc.org.uk

The event follows similar successful open days in cities such as Manchester, Newcastle, Cardiff, Belfast and Edinburgh.
