PCC plans open day

The Press Complaints Commission is to hold its first open day in a bid to raise its profile among the public.

It is hoped the event, which will be held at Manchester Art Gallery on Tuesday, November 25, will be the first of many held around Great Britain.

Among the highlights of the day will be workshops on discrimination and privacy and vulnerable groups, where members of the commission will discuss how the Editors' Code of Practice helps to protect against discriminatory, intrusive or inaccurate reporting and how the complaints process works.

Chairman Sir Christopher Meyer will also speak on the role of the PCC and self regulation of the press, before taking part in a question and answer forum.
