Editors and executives from the Archant publishing group met Press Complaints Commission chairman Sir Christopher Meyer when he visited the company's Norwich headquarters on a fact-finding mission.

Sir Christopher spoke to editors about various ethical aspects of theCommission's code of conduct, including his plans to make the PCC moreaccessible to the public.

He then heard their concerns on a range ofissues including chequebook journalism and privacy restrictions thrown upby the Human Rights Act.

Sir Christopher, who was accompanied by the PCC's deputy director TimToulmin, was welcomed by group chairman Richard Jewson and chief executiveJohn Fry.

He also met editors including theHam & High's Geoff Martin, the Hunts Post's Paul Richardson, East AnglianDaily Times editor Terry Hunt, Norwich Evening News editor David Bourn and Ipswich EveningStar editor Nigel Pickover.

Eastern Daily Press editor Peter Franzen said: "It was helpful to hear SirChristopher's views on a range of issues to do with accuracy, decency andtaste that journalists face every working day.

"He, in turn, was veryreceptive about how the code should be interpreted to uphold standards."
