Journalists pool resources for 24-hour marathon

A team of six journalists from Stoke-on-Trent daily The Sentinel raised more than £1,000 for charity by doing a sponsored 24-hour pool marathon in a local pub.

The total amount raised reached £1,250 with the addition of other fundraising activities at the pub, including the raffle of a cue donated by snooker legend Ronnie O'Sullivan.

The event was held in aid of the city's Donna Louise Trust children's hospice.

Organiser and Sentinel columnist Martin Tideswell said: "This is the fourth time that a team from The Sentinel has done a 24-hour pool marathon and it certainly doesn't get any easier.

"To date we have raised about £6,000 for the hospice and we've promised to do it again next year."

Martin was joined by photographers Clare Jennings and Steve Bould, assistant sports editor Chris Travers, assistant picture editor Phil Radcliffe and assistant head of production Rob Allcock.
