Journal campaign wins parliamentary backing

A campaign backed by a north east newspaper has been praised in Parliament.

'Go for Jobs' – run jointly by the North East Chamber of Commerce and Newcastle's Journal newspaper – has been fighting for improved prosperity in the north east of England.

The campaign has centred on more money for better road links, a discounted public transport scheme and less blocking of new property developments.

David Clelland, MP for Tyne Bridge, gave special praise to The Journal during an Early Day Motion.

He called on the House to congratulate the paper and thanked transport ministers who acted to bring about an end to restrictions on economic growth in the region.
