MPs back weekly's cancer charity campaign

A north west weekly received high praise in Parliament after 33 MPs signed an early day motion backing its charity campaign.

The Chorley Guardian launched its Mary's Prayer campaign to raise money for cancer research and treatment in March.

Lindsay Hoyle, Labour MP for Chorley, tabled the motion congratulating the paper on the project which has so far raised £42,000.

The campaign centres on local councillor and former mayor Mary Wilson who has been diagnosed with cancer for the third time.

Money raised will go towards worthy causes around Chorley and the south Ribble area of Lancashire.
