The Liverpool Echo has today launched a new campaign to fight gun crime, with the backing of the parents of murdered schoolboy Rhys Jones.
Liverpool Unites aims to give a platform for the people of Liverpool to demonstrate that they will not tolerate gun crime, and show their support for driving through legislative changes to laws surrounding gun and gang violence.
Inspired by the moment Everton and Liverpool fans united in memory of Rhys, the city's red and blue have been combined to produce a purple colour which will be central to the campaign - and 150,000 purple ribbons are to be distributed for people to wear to show their support.
